• Weather Description: Cloudy, Intermittent snow which was heavy at times. Temperature was right above freezing, I believe.

Snowpack

• Snowpack Description: We were descending from Flattop to Bear Lake via a chute above the lake. Rider #1 descended the slide while rider #2 stood in a safe zone above. The avalanche was triggered at rider #1's feet. Upon triggering the avalanche, rider #1 quickly made it to his safe zone. Debris went thru a stand of aspen trees which could have injured the rider. We had seen no signs of instability in our 6-hour tour.
