Area Description:
SAINT MARY’S GLACIER Yesterday at 7:15pm there was one small/shallow loose wet slide behind the lake. 8:05am This morning there are several larger ones. One is deep enough for a shallow burial. The peak in between the 2 cliffs now has a cornice all the way across to the (Lookers)left instead of just the (lookers) right side and the far right side leading down to the glacier. Small chunks have broken loose, but the majority is still there. In order to drop that middle steep section, you’d have to roll/drop the cornice at lookers left, which is above a cliff. Heavy wind from the West continues to build the cornice but also smooth out and reset lower angle terrain. The warm temps will be melting the lake soon. Be aware of your terrain traps. A melting lake is a bad spot to ride an avalanche into. The glacier is very smooth and soft until about 2/3 of the way up. If you plan to ski/ride this section and want a spotter text me.
