Weather Description:
10,400 ft. @ Emerald Lake. Warm, obvious solar affect on southerly slopes. Few clouds. Light to moderate winds. No precipitation.
Snowpack
Snowpack Description:
10,200 ft (NTL), East Aspect, Between Dream and Emerald Lake. HS 160-180cm. HST 20cm. CTM12 SC x2 at storm interface. MFC @ 150/180cm. CTM14 SC x2 at MFC. Did not perform extended column tests. Surface melt observed on all solar aspects.
Avalanches
Avalanche Description:
Dragonstail Couloir. R4D2. Approx 1245 PM. SE aspect. Initiated approx 100ft below ridge top. Approx 40 degree start zone. Soft Slab. Possible step down into PWL in main couloir. Intentional, skier triggered via ski cut in lookers upper right branch entrance. Initial slide moved into the main couloir and triggered another avalanche that swept the full length of the couloir. Debris ran to the bottom third of the apron below. No one caught in this event.
