Avalanches
Avalanche Description:
Remotely triggered R2-D2. Trigger point was close to a tree well, large settle with corresponding woomph. Heard the propogation and crack at the crown wall followed by a river of pouring snow. Toe of slide reached further than anticipated and crossed our track. One member of our team was between the two toes at the time. Release point was about 50 vertical meters above and 200 meters away. Broke down into lower areas of pack (ground at some points. A very clean shear was observed in most areas of the slide. Crown wall appeared to be a consistent meter across its whole width (estimate 300m). Some blocks were significantly bigger than a meterĀ³. This was our first settle of the day and we had not witnessed any other avalanches. Small trees were broken in the slide.
