• Area Description: The ridge out from the top of Highlands bowl down into Castle Creek near the Conundrum Creek Trail.

Avalanches

• Avalanche Description: One huge avalanche starting from the ridge, or just below, the back of Highlands bowl going down into Castle Creek. Seen from the Conundrum trail, very close to the parking lot. Avalanche began in the second gully of this commonly skied area, then grew and filled the basin below. The slide continued into the river. Also seen on the left side of Conundrum trail were two very small slides.

Landmark: Conundrum Creek Elevation: 11600 ft Maximum Vertical: 2700 ft Comments: Crown not fully visible, but appears to be on SE-facing side of gully. Debris very dirty; may have scoured to ground near crown. ran to creek. No new snow on debris.

Date: 2018/04/08 (Estimated) Observer: Jen Berkowitz Organization: Public Area Description: ENE facing side of Thumb Gully Landmark: Conundrum Creek Elevation: 11300 ft Sliding Surface: O - Within Old Snow Average Crown: 48 in Maximum Crown: 72 in Average Width: 200 ft Comments: May have released when undercut by debris from larger slide running down gully below. Broke on old snow near the ground.
