Snowpack
Snowpack Description:
Clear skies early this morning and temperatures dipping below freezing led to a surface re-freeze. The surface was supportable to skis at all elevations. Near treeline crusts on sunny aspects were up to 2 inches thick. A dry winter snowpack exists beneath the top 6 inches that yet to see melt water.---In the afternoon the surface crusts started to break down at below treeline elevations. There was no rollerballing or pinwheeling in the surface snow but shallow snowpack areas were becoming unsupportable. Areas with a snow depth of 24 inches or less have seen melt water reach the ground and wet the basal depth hoar.---All northerly aspects remain dry.
