Area Description:
Dream Chutes. Treed area south of Dream Lake in Rocky Mountain National Park.
Weather
Weather Description:
Strong easterly winds coming over the divide.
Snowpack
Snowpack Description:
Wind loaded, possibly to a greater extent than other nearby slopes due to its location near the saddle of the ridge. The slope faces north at 10,300ft near treeline
Avalanches
Avalanche Description:
A small avalanche was triggered by two skiers. Both were able to ski out and were unharmed. The slope was estimated at 40 degrees. The avalanche was triggered on a wind-loaded convexity. the crown was shaped like a pie piece, with one edge parallel to the slope and the other perpendicular, each edge ~30ft long and 1-2ft tall. The debris was unconsolidated and slid ~100ft (slowed by dense trees).
