Location
BC Zone:
Front Range
Area Description:
Jones Pass area. The slide was just South of the main Jones Pass drainage. Powder Addiction calls the area "Gumlick". The slide started at about 12.5k and the crown was East facing wrapping around to a Northeast aspect.
Weather
Weather Description:
It was sunny and already ~ 20F this morning around 9am at 11k. Winds had already subsided with lighter gusts to maybe 15mph.
Snowpack
Snowpack Description:
Everything was pretty windhammered today with a suncrust already developing on solar aspects. I didn't get anywhere near the actual slide area. I can't speak to the snow up a bit higher and on that Easterly aspect.
Avalanches
Avalanche Description:
"Gumlick" Zone just South of the main Jones Pass drainage. Crown is at ~12.5k. East to Northeast aspect. Looks like a natural, no sled or ski tracks could be seen but the wind scouring would make tracks very difficult to identify. Hardslab than ran down to a bench. Probably ran ~ 500ft might be 700ft across.
