Notchtop Coliour
Weather
Weather Description:
Partly cloudy, gusty winds of maybe 40 mph, triggered at an elevation of approximately 11,800 ft. Notchtop Coliour is south facing.
Snowpack
Snowpack Description:
Majority of coliour was hardpack with about 8-10 inches of soft snow existing from approximately 11,900 feet to 11,200 feet.
Avalanches
Avalanche Description:
A D2 avalanche was triggered at approximately 11,800 feet with a crown of 8 inches propagating across the coliour roughly 100 feet and slid to the coliour apron at 10,700 feet. Skier triggering slide was able to ski out of the slide without incident. One skier was below but positioned in a safe location to the far skiers right. Third skier was above slide path in a safe location and able to follow slide path down without incident.
