Avalanches

• Avalanche Description: Shockley's Folly, ~0.2 mile east of Loveland Pass summit on Summit County (south) side. Sometime this afternoon (12/27/2014) a snowboarder triggered (not caught) a small soft slab avalanche as the rider turned over a rocky/brushy outcrop and then rode out. The avalanche was not witnessed by this observer. Classification: SS-AR-R2(D2)-O. Aspect: South. Elevation: 12100 - 11860 ft. Vertical: 340 ft. Width: 170 ft. SZ angle: ~38 deg. Fx depth: 2-3 ft.
