• Route Description: NE slopes 9,500 - 11,000 ft.

Weather

• Weather Description: Weather: Light snowfall (S-1) all day with bursts of moderate snowfall (S2) in the afternoon. 2-3” of accumulation during through the day. Mostly calm winds, but occasional moderate gusts, increasing in the afternoon.

Snowpack

• Snowpack Description: Soft slab over weak layering across all NE slopes. Snow depths average around 20”. The weekend’s storm snow has settled to approximately 8” (Fist hardness). Below is a denser layer (4F+ hardness) of faceting rounds that is semi-supportable on skis (the early December storms), above a very weak layer of 2mm facets (Fist hardness). This layer showed easy to moderate initiation and clean propagation (Q1, SC) in extended column tests.
