Accident Summary

PRELIMINARY: A backcountry skier was killed in an avalanche in Shoshone County, Idaho, Near Stevens Peak, on January 11, 2024. 

Law enforcement received a satellite message alert about an avalanche on the afternoon of January 11, 2024. Multiple agencies participated in the search and rescue. Two men were found and taken to medical care. A third man was not found. On January 12, search and rescue teams recovered the body of the third man.
